Gumleaf Gifts Australia provides hampers that are consciously curated on the basis of being eco-friendly and contain hand-made items from Australian small businesses. A portion of profit from each hamper sold is donated to the Australian Koala Foundation who protect this endangered species by protecting their habitat. I chose this foundation as Koalas are an iconic animal for Australia who are at risk of being extinct in the wild due to habitat loss from bushfires and land development. Our brand name ‘Gumleaf Gifts Australia’ represents that this business is Australian owned and showcases other Australian small businesses who provide eco-friendly and ethical products that are hand-made with love and care.
All packaging is eco-friendly and can be re-used, recycled or repurposed. Some items in the gift hampers are biodegradable and provide eco-friendly alternatives to items that would usually end up in landfill once used. Each hamper comes with a reusable shopping bag and is delightfully packaged for the recipient.
The purpose of Gumleaf Gifts Australia is to provide an eco-friendly alternative option to gifts hampers that wont end up in landfill once used like so many gifts do after big holiday events. In 2019, it was estimated $400million worth of unwanted gifts ended up in landfill at Christmas time. Alongside 150,000km of Christmas wrapping paper used which also ends up in landfill.
Gumleaf Gifts Australia is aiming to provide gifts that are eco-friendly, don’t end up in landfill and the hampers can be customized to give the buyer more control of what products they want the recipient to receive to avoid unwanted gifts.

Marketing this business to help other small businesses- $2000.00
This stretch goal will enable me to use a professional digital marketing business to help raise awareness of my brand. This will assist with generating more sales and in turn help other small businesses and increase donations to our partnered foundation-the Australian Koala Foundation. I am using two social media platforms-Facebook and Instagram and have a website for direct sale transactions. The more brand awareness I can get from using digital advertising-the more people I can spread my message too on how and why to live sustainably, reduce landfill and support the Koala foundation.
Eco-friendly subscription hamper to make sustainable changes- $1000.00
Making eco-friendly sustainable changes not only helps the environment but it also helps with your mental health and physical well-being resulting in longevity. I was working at a health care worker suffering from burn out and chronic fatigue which was impacting my health overall. I decided in order to overcome this I need to make sustainable changes around the home that would improve my health. I made the switch to sustainable eco-friendly items, reduced household waste by shopping at wholefood stores and which in turn enabled me to cut out harmful processed foods. Overall the journey of reducing plastic use, using eco-friendly products and eating wholesome foods has improved my health and well-being and enabled me to overcome my chronic stress issues. I want to share this knowledge with others through a subscription hamper filled with products that enhance your health and well-being and educate people on using more eco-friendly products that improve your health. In turn this will also support other small businesses who make these products.

In addition to the gift hampers, I would like to set up an online store that provides a platform to purchase gifts and items for the home that are eco-friendly and sustainable. These items will help support your change to live a more eco-conscious lifestyle and provide a space to purchase gifts that are hand-made and unique from various Australian Small businesses. Through this store I will be able to educate people on sustainable and easy changes to make around the home that improve your overall health and well-being.
